What Wildbook should this feature be in? GiraffeSpotter
What would you like to see? If each individual has two id photos, left and right, keyword tagged with id_left / id_right, then the ability to run a match of a population against all the “id photos” to find duplicates.
How would this functionality help you? We get many new IDs created for individuals that are already in the system, and it can snowball and cause us the estimate larger populations than reality. I’m not sure my suggest workflow is clear, or feasible, but we could really use some way to periodically check our population datasets for individuals that have been accidentally created in duplication. If we have a standard way to record the “id book”, I am imaging a way to validate against that every 6-12 months.
If requesting a new location ID, include
- Is this is nested beneath another location in the hierarchy?
- Is there a prefix for region-based naming? (optional)
- GPS coordinates in decimal format (optional)
Note: Not all feature requests can be accepted, but all of them are reviewed by our product team. We’re unable to provide implementation timelines for accepted requests. We are a small team with many competing priorities. Thanks for your understanding!
