Add new species ia class to Grouper Spotter

What Wildbook should this feature be in?
Grouper Spotter

What would you like to see?
I have a request from a partner to add additional grouper species to the list in Grouper Spotter.
Is this possible? If so I will provide the list.

QUESTION : I realize these species will not have been trained in the model but if the user manually annotates them to the correct ia class will the platform try to match within that ia class?

How would this functionality help you?
Help a partner begin to add new species to the platform

If requesting a new location ID, include

  • Is this is nested beneath another location in the hierarchy?
  • Is there a prefix for region-based naming? (optional)
  • GPS coordinates in decimal format (optional)

Note: Not all feature requests can be accepted, but all of them are reviewed by our product team. We’re unable to provide implementation timelines for accepted requests. We are a small team with many competing priorities. Thanks for your understanding!

Hi @accfish

Which species are you looking to add?

Match candidates are determined when they match the taxonomy, IA class, viewpoint, and location ID of the encounter. We configure IA classes with each species so if there’s a species that requires a new IA class than we previously used, we can account for that. Just let us know which additional body parts are used for identification.

These are additional species that they are requesting to be added to the species dropdown list and therefore to the IA class

Snubnose Grouper Epinephelus macrospilos
Blacktip Grouper Epinephelus fasciatus
Giant Grouper Epinephelus lanceolatus
Coral Grouper Cephalopholis miniata
Yellow-edged Lyretail Variola louti
Malabar Grouper Epinephelus malabaricus
Marbled Coral Grouper Plectropomus punctatus
Peacock Grouper Cephalopholis argus
Tomato Grouper Cephalopholis sonnerati
