Adding IA classes for annotations

What Wildbook are you working in?

MantaMatcher

What is the entire URL out of the browser, exactly where the error occurred?

https://mantamatcher.org/react/manual-annotation?encounterId=e11a30a3-54b7-4560-a6f6-5a8f86809c81&assetId=625342

Can you describe what the issue is you’re experiencing?

How can you add an IA class for selection? When creating guitarfish annotations, the only option for IA class is “guitarfish.” We’d like to add more for different body parts!

Additionally, our annotations have been cloning the encounters and saving under the new clone- will fixing the IA class issue allow multiple annotations to be made in the same encounter?

Hi @FLManta

Guitarfish are currently only identified by their bodies in MantaMatcher and not individual parts. Are there specific parts of the guitarfish that are unique between individuals?

Hi @Anastasia- thanks so much for the info! Yes, guitarfish have unique spots on their rostrum (the triangular area between the tip of their snout to their eyes). Our previous photo ID work actually only focused on this area- we haven’t tried using whole body patterning yet. Ideally, we’d like to compare the efficacy of using the head vs. the whole body when photo ID’ing!

Great; thanks! I’ll talk to the machine learning team to see if we can add it for you.

Awesome, thank you so much! Would it be a significant effort to get “guitarfish head” added as a class as well?

Apparently Wildbook starts getting uncooperative when there are more than two IA classes for a species. Between the rostrum and the head, which class would be more useful to add?

Hi @Anastasia! Completely understood- the rostrum would be more useful please!

Thanks! I’ll let you know when it’s been configured.
