Approval of encounters submitted by non-researchers

What Wildbook should this feature be in?

Internet of Turtles

What would you like to see?

Please correct me if I’m wrong here, but currently if a turtle is not matched to an existing individual in the database, as a researcher I’m only able to enter it as a new individual if I myself uploaded the sighting. Is it possible to enable researchers to approve sightings from other submitters (who are not signed up as contributors) as new individuals in the database?

How would this functionality help you?

We run a citizen science project where students go out and get photographs of turtles to upload to the database (recently switched to this method after running our own offline I3S database since 2012). These students are obviously uploading sightings without having their own accounts, and it would be preferable that I, as the supervisor, am the only one that is able to give final verification of sighting IDs.

I set up a project for us and I curate the project remotely and it would be really beneficial to be able to work on the student’s sightings to approve new individuals.

I am still familiarising myself with IoT so if I have missed something and this functionality already exists, please let me know how to go about entering new individuals submitted by others?

thanks!
Rowan
