Automatic Edit permissions between members of the same research group

What Wildbook should this feature be in?

Amphibian and Reptile Wildbook

What would you like to see?

Dear Wildme Team,

I work in the Amphibian and Reptile Wildbbok as part of the Botanical Garden Research Group. I have a request for a feature that would make our work easier.
We regularly have new students working on our projects and right now we always have to initialise collaborations with all members of the research group whenever someone new joins.
This is sometimes not so handy. Is there a way to assign all researchers that are part of our group to some kind of Researchgroup in Wildbook and automatically allow edit permissions between all members of that group?
So whenever someone new joins the group, they can immediately start working without sending all the collaboration invitations first?
That’d be super helpful.

All the best

Sean

Hi @Sean.Grond

There isn’t currently a way to do this, but Codex had a feature where admins could manage collaborations between users, so if this carried over to Wildbook, it could just be one person in your org that manages the user collaborations instead of relying on the students to stay on top of it. There isn’t currently a timeline to implement this kind of collaboration management in Wildbook, but it’s something we plan to do in the future.

As far as giving group members blanket permission to edit each other’s data, this seems like a pretty narrow use case. Most users prefer to have more control over who can edit their data even within orgs. I’ll leave this open, but I suspect it’s unlikely to be implemented due to the loosening of data security this would entail.
