Hello!
I want to give the community a heads up that computer vision-based matching via Wildbook Image Analysis servers will experience limited outages on March 27 and 28 as we move our more powerful physical servers into a colocation facility. The facility we are moving them to has had uninterrupted power and Internet for the past ten years (wow!), helping us to reduce future weather-related downtime. With about eight badge swipes and locks between the outside world and their protective cabinet, we also think they’re going to be much physically safer than our office.
The following platforms will still be public-facing and able to take new data, but their backend Wildbook Image Analysis servers (used for detection and ID ML jobs) will be unavailable:
- Flukebook.org
- Giraffespotter.org
- Internet of Turtles (iot.wildbook.org)
- African Carnivore Wildbook (africancarnivore.wildbook.org)
- Zebra Wildbook (zebra.wildbook.org)
We can work with any affected users to resend any data coming on 3/27 and 3/28 to detection as soon as the servers as operating normally in their new home.
Please let me know if you have any concerns.
Thanks you,
Jason Holmberg
