Data corruption in matching results?

In which Wildbook did the issue occur? ACW

What operating system were you using? Windows 10

What web browser were you using? Latest Chrome

What is your role on the site? (admin, researcher, etc) Admin

What happened? Ran a manual match against an encounter; got 4 possible matches. Match result #2 & #4 in the ranking did not have any data associated with them - no encounter # and no image. See attached screenshot.

What did you expect to happen? I expected only encounters with IDs and images to be used to match against. I have no idea what these 2 seemingly empty results are, where they came from or what they represent.

What are some steps we could take to reproduce the issue? Run manual matching on the same encounter we used: https://africancarnivore.wildbook.org/encounters/encounter.jsp?number=4484db73-eb95-4e17-9dd3-b0502b79e4a6

Hey there!
This is a good news, bad news situation.
The good news is, your data is safe. Those are encounters that had run through matching and then been deleted after the fact.
The bad news is they are still displaying. There’s a sync issue between the machine learning results and the Wildbook display. This tends to occur when there’s a lot of churn in data.

We’re getting this into our backlog to address. It will be tracked under ticket WB-560
Thanks so much!
