Date on image in match results is not the date of the encounter

In which Wildbook did the issue occur? ACW

What operating system were you using? Win 10

What web browser were you using? latest chrome

What is your role on the site? admin

What happened?
I opened match results here: Wildbook for Carnivores
The first proposed match has a date & time overlaid on the image of 2003-01-04T 12:45 per screenshot below:

This is not the date that was applied to the encounter record for that annotation: Wildbook for Carnivores | Login
image

Could the system be displaying date/time info from the exif data on that media asset rather than the date that was uploaded in the bulk import?

What did you expect to happen?
For the date that was in the bulk import spreadsheet to be the one displayed on top of that annotation in the match results

If this is a bulk import report, send the spreadsheet to services@wildme.org with the email subject line matching your bug report Done

Another example:
Match results page for target encounter: Wildbook for Carnivores
image

Note the date overlaid on target annotation is 2021-07-04, which is actually the date that this screenshot was taken from a video file.
The date of the encounter is actually: 2014-11-10:
image

The system is overlaying a date & time from the exif data rather than the encounter date.

This is a problem because the exif data is very often incorrect and inconsistent (multiple exif date fields can reflect different dates for the same image). When that happens, we enter the correct date for the encounter date & time in the bulk import spreadsheet.

This date on the target annotation should come from the encounter date, not the exif data.

thanks

Hi, @ACWadmin1 !

It does indeed come from exif.
We’re tracking the issue internally as WB-1740.
Thanks!

Hi, @ACWadmin1 !
The fix for WB-1740 has been deployed. I’m seeing the 2014-11-10 date now.
Let me know whether you’re seeing the same!
Cheers,
Mark
