"error initiating IA job"

In which Wildbook did the issue occur? ACW

What operating system were you using? Win 10

What web browser were you using? latest chrome

What is your role on the site? researcher

What happened?

  1. Added 2 new annotations on a media asset
  2. Deleted 1 encounter from same media asset where the annotation was around 2 animals
  3. Went to encounter record for one of the new annotations and clicked on “start another match”
  4. Waited several minutes for match results and got this error message: error initiating IA job"
    Encounter record used in step 3: https://africancarnivore.wildbook.org/encounters/encounter.jsp?number=e79db1b0-ea49-49f9-b3dd-25d9fb564973
  5. Same result when following the same steps above for the other new annotation/encounter: https://africancarnivore.wildbook.org/encounters/encounter.jsp?number=3b000a96-c778-4089-ade5-2d2584b0ec44

What did you expect to happen?
Match results to be displayed or message that no match results found

Filed as WB-858. Basically, the manual annotation tool (still in beta) is letting you set an iaClass (step 2) that isn’t designed for matching:

wild_dog+tail_standard

We need to filter down to only those that are usable to you for matching:

identificationClass0=wild_dog
identificationClass1=wild_dog_standard
identificationClass2=wild_dog_tan
identificationClass3=wild_dog_dark
identificationClass4=wild_dog_puppy
identificationClass5=wild_dog_general
identificationClass6=wild_dog_ambiguous
identificationClass7=cheetah
identificationClass8=leopard

The workaround is to delete the new Encounter that represents the new manual annotation and then re-create it (from another Encounter with the same photo), using one of the values above.

We’ll follow up on WB-858 to limit the list to matchable values.

Thanks,
Jason

We believe this has been resolved. Fix is deployed to ACW. Thanks!
