Extract GPS from EXIF of bulk imported encounters

What Wildbook should this feature be in? ALL, but please Flukebook

What would you like to see? When we bulk import encounters, it should pull the GPS position from the EXIF of the image files

How would this functionality help you? Automatically populate location fields and enable much faster location specific work or movement analysis

Note: Not all feature requests can be accepted, but all of them are reviewed by our product team. We’re unable to provide implementation timelines for accepted requests. We are a small team with many competing priorities. Thanks for your understanding!

Hey Shane - currently we extract the GPS from the exif data and write it as a csv with all the photo filenames and dates as a variable in the bulk import sheet and flukebook can import it if the lat/long if the variables are named: Encounter.decimalLatitude/ Encounter.decimalLongitude. I do think it would be nice if FB had the option to extract the metadata including date/time/GPS directly from the photos though! maybe there is a future where it could be an option and we wouldn’t need a bulk import spreadsheet?
