What happened? As of yesterday, the gallery view of images on an Individual page is not showing any images, nor is the results table populating any encounter links. This has happened in the past but only for individuals that have only 1 encounter (and 1 image). Now it is happening with all individuals. Around the same time this started happening, I have also been unable to obtain any match results because I keep getting the error message “no data to match against” on the match results page. After reading through community posts of similar issues, I’m now suspecting this is all related?

What did you expect to happen? See the thumbnail images in the gallery, see match results.

What are some steps we could take to reproduce the issue?

Hi @sbent

Can you post links to Individual pages that aren’t displaying correctly for you? I’m not seeing this issue myself, so it might be related to specific individuals.

I also need links to encounters/match pages where the match results aren’t displaying.

There are a variety of reasons that match results might not display and the root causes are unrelated to each other, but the user-facing problem is the same (no matches shown). “No data to match against” typically means that there aren’t any animals of that species in the location ID you’ve selected, but I’d want to look at the specific task to verify that’s the message is accurate and not a bug.

Here is a bulk import that I’ve deleted and reuploaded 3 times. Each time it gets to the “waiting to queue” status, when I click the link to the match page it gives me the “no data to match against” error. I have also tried to run single matches on various encounters that have all given me the same “no data” error.

All of my individuals are not displaying anything in the gallery view or encounter results table. Here are links to two of them.

Also, when I try to use the encounter search to query any encounter, I get a “no records to display” message.

Thanks for the examples!

Waiting to queue in the class column means that it’s still waiting to complete identification. You can see a list of identification statuses and what they mean here: Bulk Import FAQ — Wildbook documentation. Once the status is Completed that’s when match results are ready to review.

Is the issue with this import is that it’s been getting stuck in this status for too long? If so, how long has it been waiting? I’m not seeing any obvious bottlenecks in the Flukebook queue right now.

I’m able to see the encounter table on these individuals, but I think there’s a broader opensearch issue that’s preventing the gallery from loading as the quicksearch bar and standard encounter search are also not returning results. I’m going to follow up with a ticket link shortly. Once that’s addressed, I may need to log into your account to test the missing encounter table issue in case the visibility is tied to this search bug.

We just restarted Flukebook and the search and individual galleries appear to be working again. Can you check on the encounter table on the individual pages and let me know if it’s loading for you now?

The gallery view and encounter search are now working! The issue with the bulk import was that it was stuck on “waiting to queue” for more than 8 hours. I then deleted the import and reuploaded 3 times and had the same issue where it would be stuck on that status for an unusually long time. When I would click on the link to the match page it would give me the “no data” error. As of right now the bulk import is still at 0% identification and with the “waiting to queue” status. I’ll check it later to see if it progressed at all. Thank you!

Got it; next time an import seems stuck in detection or ID, deleting and reuploading it won’t change that. The exception was of course that one time it decided to reject uploading images altogether the first time around. But generally, there’s a few different things we can check on behind the scenes to get things unstuck.

Good to know :slightly_smiling_face: Thanks for your help again! This bulk import is progressing through ID now
