Greetings! My name is Than Hitt, and I’m a fish biologist with the US Geological Survey (Eastern Ecological Science Center).
I’m interested in AI-ML applications for freshwater fish ecology and conservation - and I see lots of opportunity for collaboration.
For instance, we’re developing a deep-learning framework for individual recognition of brook trout from images, and we see some encouraging preliminary results. We’re also developing video-based methods for fish abundance estimation in streams.
