Matching not working properly - only checking the latest entries

Hi Anastasia,
I’ve had some issues while trying to match my nursehound sharks. It seems to check new encounters only through the latest 4-5 encounters, not against my whole catalogue.

In which Wildbook did the issue occur? Sharkbook

What operating system were you using? (MacOS Sonoma 14.4

What web browser were you using? Versione 135.0.7049.116

What is your role on the site? (admin, researcher, etc) admin

What happened? It is not checking all S. stellaris entries, but only a handful

What did you expect to happen? To go through all S.stellaris encounters on record

What are some steps we could take to reproduce the issue?
e.g. Sharkbook: Wildbook for Sharks there was an error with task 7f42c3dc-c037-4adf-ae3e-019233afe20f: No data to match against, please refine your matching parameters.

e.g. Sharkbook: Wildbook for Sharks - Matches based on texture (HotSpotter match results) 04/05/2025, 18:09:25 against 4 candidates — there should be way more than 4 candidates!

e.g. Sharkbook: Wildbook for Sharks based on texture (HotSpotter match results) 04/05/2025, 18:26:03 against 2 candidates --This is an individual I have seen over and over again which I can visually ID (R-BSC-535), there should be lots of pictures.

Also, when I search for this individual in the lens area, the number R-BSC-535 appears but when I click on it another individual pops up BSC-053

Thanks for looking into this!
Eleonora

I re-ran the match on this encounter and got match results here: Sharkbook: Wildbook for Sharks

But it’s also only showing that it’s matching against 3 candidates, which isn’t great. We’ll continue working on this and I’ll let you know as soon as I have any updates.

We’ve fixed the configuration issue that was preventing the full set of match candidates to be considered. I re-ran the match above and now see that it matched against 215 candidates, which sounds more accurate: Sharkbook: Wildbook for Sharks

Feel free to re-run the other questionable matches.

Thanks again for reporting this! We were able to resolve similar issues for 4 species as a result of this feedback.

thank you Anastasia & team!
you guys are great :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
ciao
