We’re pleased to announce a new AI model to re-ID individual sea turtles in Internet of Turtles. This multispecies model was trained using known individuals from Hawksbill, green, and loggerhead sea turtle populations (a mix of private and public data). Importantly, this model can match sea turtles by head scutes (the standard approach) and shell patterning, which has been a requested feature from our user community (and is also a much harder problem).
