What Wildbook are you working in?
ARW
What is the entire URL out of the browser, exactly where the error occurred?
No URL. Issue arises during data analysis after export.
Can you describe what the issue is you’re experiencing?
There is a discrepancy between the capture histories and the raw Encounter table.
Mismatch between capture history recaptures and Encounter records: no repeated individuals detected via catalog numbers and timestamps
Can you provide steps on how to reproduce what you’re experiencing?
In my exported dataset, are 4,553 encounters recorded and exported. 4,332 with a complete capturehistory of 38 numbers. When i analyse the capture histories and count the “1”: 3,516 fire salamanders were captured once, 473 individuals were captured twice, 187 individuals were captured three times, 54 individuals were captured four times, 76 individuals were captured five times, 19 individuals were captured six times, 7 individuals were captured seven times. This suggests 5,782 total encounters.
However, when I checked the exported Encounter table using R, grouping by Encounter.catalogNumber and Encounter.dateInMilliseconds, I found that there are no repeated observations at all.
thank you in advance for your help!
Felix.
Hi @Felix.Stumpf
Can you let me know the search filters you used so I can investigate? If you have a Classic Encounter Search link to the search results page, that will also work.
Hello Anastasia,
my search filters were:
“Project Name: Vergleich”, Date Filters: (AE) May 6, 2023 - May 4, 2024. And my e-mail adress. The export included all my data in the project.
What changed in my project on ARW after the data export is that two additional sessions were added. However, I have not fully completed the matching, detection and identification for those.
I hope it’s still possible to export the data like before, or to exclude the last two added sessions (Import Task: 25571a5d-bf25-464e-bd02-1f4e078b894e and Import Task: 74ad8892-8a4e-497f-b319-c515953a1ecc)

Hi @Felix.Stumpf
I’m not able to replicate this yet. When I search encounters with the filters you gave me, I only see 3193 encounters in the search results. However, if I only search for encounters in your project without additional filters applied, I get 4879 encounters. Subtracting the encounters in the two imports you asked to have excluded (298 and 55) that gets us closer to your original number but not quite at 4526.
This might be easier to troubleshoot if I can see your screen in real time. I’m going to send you a separate email shortly.
Thanks for meeting with us today! We’ve confirmed there’s a bug in mark recapture exports and should have an update for you early next week.
