What happened? Search now appears to include the long hash for each encounter, so we can no longer use whale ID numbers
What did you expect to happen? When searching for whale 6196 for example, the search bar at the top finds encounters with hashes that include 6196 and so individual 6196 is omitted from the list. See below
What are some steps we could take to reproduce the issue? Just search “6196” in the search bar.

Hi @ShaneGero
This is a known bug that we have a ticket for: Quicksearch by individual ID omits taxonomy from match summary and displays matches by UUID · Issue #1113 · WildMeOrg/Wildbook · GitHub
The short answer is that quicksearch is checking for UUIDs in the search terms and displaying that instead of the individual ID. You can use the Individual Search page as a workaround (Search > Individuals > Identity filters > Individual name(s))
Ok, is there anyway to upvote this? Its kind of a functionality killer.
Not exactly, because this isn’t a feature request; It’s an open ticket for a bug report.
There are so few of us spread over all current open tickets that we constantly have to reprioritize things as issues emerge and filter tickets that are appropriate for our community of open-source developers to tackle.
I rely on quicksearch for troubleshooting issues as well, so this is definitely on my radar to get addressed in an upcoming release cycle.
