Sharkbook has become very slow

Hi, just wondering what might be happening in sharkbook as it is slowing to a crawl today.

For context, it is taking approx 15mins or more to upload each image, MiewID results seem to time out before returning the results, saving new annotations is taking 10mins or more, and MiewID results are quite often presenting an “error initiating IA job” message.

**For spot maps there is a speed issue too, where creating new spot maps is taking 20mins+ to load, and I am starting to receive messages of “error saving” for new spot maps.

Can you check if Sharkbook.ai needs a reboot to get it working again?

Thanks!

Hi @Sarah_Aus_SpotaShark

There’s a lot of jobs processing in Sharkbook right now. The server looks pretty normal despite the heavy workload. I’m already seeing improvement in match wait times, but I do see slowness with spot mapping still. These should improve as the queue goes down.

Hi Anastasia
I have left sharkbook for 24hours from doing MiewID, popped back in and tried again but it says “There are currently 1395 ID jobs in the bulk import queue. Time per job is averaging 698 minutes based on recent matches. Your time may be much faster or slower.”

I have not tried to do anywhere near this number of MiewID matches, so I am wondering if there is something else going on. It is still very slow.

Thanks!

Sharkbook’s been handing about 6000 jobs over the last 2 days. The biggest spike was yesterday and it’s been steadily dropping since then. I’m having the devs take another look to verify if anything’s amiss.

Thanks for your patience. I verified that the server itself is still working as expected. We’d only restart it if it appeared that it wasn’t making any progress on the jobs in the queue. It’s working steadily and trending downward so it’s just slowly but surely processing all the pending jobs and we don’t want to interrupt that and add to the wait.

We are getting closer to moving away from WBIA and reduce these bottlenecks that occur when there are lots of jobs coming through, so this shouldn’t be a pain point for too much longer.
