Spot a Shark Aus - general public cannot view shark images

In which Wildbook did the issue occur? Spot a Shark Australia

What operating system were you using? (eg. MacOS 10.15.3) Microsoft

What web browser were you using? (eg. Chrome 79) Chrome

What is your role on the site? (admin, researcher, etc) Researcher

What happened? We are trying to revamp and get more interest in the Spot a Shark database, and we have found that the general public are unable to search for sharks in their area. This is a feature we would like to add for the general public - albeit thumbnail images. But it would be a great initiative to spark more interest. At the moment, if somebody clicks on “Encounters > View all” or “Individuals > Gallery” they are asked to log in. Is this the same as the USA database? Is there a reason the general public are locked out?

What did you expect to happen? Not asked for log in details

What are some steps we could take to reproduce the issue? Manage the site permissions for these sections of website

Hi, @Sarah_Aus_SpotaShark !

It’s definitely possible to make certain parts of SAS AUS (e.g., the gallery) visible to the public. I’m just confirming on my side that you and @Sean_Aus_SpotaShark 's desire for this is sufficient for the green light.

Cheers,
Mark

@MarkF - yes that would be great. We did use to have it open to the public. Thanks Mark for you hep.
