Unable to see metadata of collaborator's encounters

In which Wildbook did the issue occur? Internet of Turtles

What operating system were you using? (eg. MacOS 10.15.3) MacOS 15.6.1 (24G90)

What web browser were you using? (eg. Chrome 79) Chrome Version 140.0.7339.185 (Official Build) (arm64)

What is your role on the site? (admin, researcher, etc) admin

What happened? I’m looking at a collaborator’s encounter, and some of the metadata is not visible (e.g. date and location). I asked my collaborator if they were populating the data and was provided a screenshot of the data visible in their view.

Note that this issue is not new with the new release, I noticed this before the upgrade but we never confirmed whether or not the data was there until now.

What did you expect to happen? I expected to be able to see the date and location of the encounter, and any other metadata associated with the encounter.

What are some steps we could take to reproduce the issue?

Nevermind, I got the devs to determine it’s a view collaboration. I’m going to write a ticket for this since this is a little more restrictive than it should be. I’ll update with a ticket link soon.

View collaboration hides location and date metadata on encounters

**Expected behavior** View collaborators can fully view metadata of encounters t…hey can access. **Current behavior** View collaborators don't see all metadata in the other user's encounters, such as date and location. **QA notes** `Collaboration.canCollaborate("context0", "username1", "username2")` is returning TRUE (matches db state) which means `enc.canUserAccess()` should also return TRUE ``` public boolean canUserAccess(HttpServletRequest request) { return Collaboration.canUserAccessEncounter(this, request); } ``` which means `visible` (in encounter.jsp) should also be true: `boolean visible = isOwner || encounterIsPublic || encounterCanBeEditedByAnyLoggedInUser || enc.canUserAccess(request); ` date and location (for non-public) seems to only be shown when` isOwner` (misnomer) is TRUE `isOwner` is set via `ServletUtilities.isUserAuthorizedForEncounter()` i have a sneaking suspicion that encounter.jsp, for the user in question, is having `isOwner = false` which seems to me this needs to be true to show date and location. which seems like a little odd but i _think_ that is what i am noting. here is the condition for showing date: `(isOwner|| encounterIsPublic && visible && enc.getDateInMilliseconds()!=null)` and here is the one for showing locationID: `((isOwner || encounterIsPublic) && enc.getLocation()!=null)` **Community link** https://community.wildme.org/t/unable-to-see-metadata-of-collaborators-encounters/5172
