Wildbook 10.8.0 Coming Soon!

We’re excited to be wrapping up the development and testing of the next Wildbook release, version 10.8.0. The focus of this release is a complete redesign and new implementation of the bulk import functionality and interfaces. However, we are NOT changing the bulk import spreadsheet format, and your workflows to create these should not be affected.

Bulk import has been a very popular feature of Wildbooks but also a support challenge due to the wide range of data types allowed in Wildbook. With the work on release 10.8.0, we believe that we will be delivering you a more stable, easier to use, and easier to understand workflow that addresses many of the issues that were brought to us about the previous bulk import system. Notable amongst the new 10.8.0 features is the ability to review and edit data from your spreadsheet in your browser before it is committed to the database. Here is a sneak peek at some examples from the data review and editing page:

Data review supports validation and correction of mistakes in common fields such as species, location ID, submitter ID, GPS coordinates, dates, and more.

You can update the values in an entire column for common fields like Encounter.locationID and Encounter.submitterID, allowing you to quickly and broadly correct errors.

We’re looking forward to hearing about your experiences with the new visual design and workflow, and we will continue to iterate on it and improve it in future releases based on your feedback. Look for 10.8.0 to come to your Wildbook in early August and please send us feedback about both what you like and and where your pain points are so we can continue to improve!
