Approval status for matches made with Hotspotter

Hi Wildbook team, we’ve noticed recently that when we make a match using suggestions from Hotspotter, the status of the encounter now remains “unapproved” where it used to automatically change to “approved”. Usually, we only have to manually change that status if we are creating a brand new ID.

Not sure if this is part of our most recent update, as Nerida and I just noticed it this past week. Just wanting to share awareness in case it’s not intentional and indicates some kind of bug!

Hi @ChrissyTustison,

This is intentional. The Encounter status should not change with ID. They are intended to be separate, and we do have cases where students set IDs and Profs review and approve. So the previous was technically in error, though sometimes it was convenient.
