Hello everyone,

i’m currently working with two exported tables and I’m trying to link them to assign the binary capture histories to the individuals/observations. However, there is no common column between the two tables to make this connection.

For example:
Simple Mark table(IndividualSearchResults)
00000000001000000000000000000000000000 1; /* 000b0ee3-bab6-48a2-b3d9-da81b1f2cacf */

I think i am overlooking something or making a mistake.
Thank you so much, and Merry Christmas!

Felix Stumpf.

Hi @Felix.Stumpf

If I understand correctly, the mark recapture export and the standard export for the same search make it hard to understand what each field represents, right?

Looking at the mark recapture file, it looks like it only exports the UUID (unique user ID) of the individuals, and not their individual IDs. For example, if you paste “000b0ee3-bab6-48a2-b3d9-da81b1f2cacf” into the search bar at the top of the page of ARW, it goes to the individual page for ID-002118. If you look at the URL of the individual page, you’ll see id=000b0ee3-bab6-48a2-b3d9-da81b1f2cacf in there.

I’ll talk to Jason to see if we can make the mark recapture exports display marked individual IDs instead of UUIDs or find an alternative that makes it human-readable to understand what we’re looking it.

Hello Anastasia,

thank you so much for your idea! Yes, that’s exactly my task. Getting the marked individual IDs in the Mark Recapture exports would be a huge help and make it so much easier to link the data. You both would be doing me a huge favor again.

Thank you both, and I wish you a Merry Christmas!

Best regards,
Felix.

Hi Ansatasia, hi Jason,

i hope you both had a great start to 2025!

I just wanted to kindly follow up to ask if you if you have found a solution that would allow me to better access the individual IDs. This would help me link the capture histories with the corresponding metadata for analysis.
If you see any optional way I could link the covariates with the capture histories of the individuals or observations on my end, I would be very grateful for any advice you can offer me.

Thank you so much in advance for your support!

Let me check in with Jason to see where he is on progress.

Would a format like this work for you? We’d still want to keep the UUID visible because it’s an unambiguous internal reference for the animal it refers to. In this screenshot it will follow the more prominent Individual ID. If this works for you, I’ll confirm it with Jason and he’ll make it live.

Jason should have this ready before the end of the week. Feel free to check in if you don’t hear from me by then.
