Automated emails have ceased

What happened? I received lots of emails from participants asking where their submission and update emails are

What did you expect to happen?

What are some steps we could take to reproduce the issue? Do a test submission. For some reason I almost never received automated emails but this is not related to the new issue. Just means I cant test the problem.

I confirmed that the test submission I sent didn’t generate an email and it’s appearing in our outbound dasboard. I know Microsoft Azure services are experiencing outages today. It’s too early to tell whether that’s what’s behind the email outage but it seems the most likely culprit.
