Bug report GPS coordinate

Hello Anastasia, I’m contacting you because I’m getting a lot of GPS coordinate errors in many Bulk imports. Indeed, there seems to have been bugs when importing the Bulk import on flukebook because I often have the letter “E” at the end of the GPS coordinates which makes the localization buggy.

Would it be possible for you to change them on bulk imports in their entirety because otherwise I have to do line by line and I wonder if there isn’t a quicker solution… Unfortunately, I no longer have these bulk imports on my computer so I don’t know if it will be possible for you.

This concerns the Bulk Import “TtExpe202353.xlsx” and “TtExpe202352.xlsx”, the correct coordinates are: 16.30863047 -61.83675065.
The Bulk Import “TtExpe202351.xlsx”, the correct coordinates are: 15.30807326 -61.40413735.
The Bulk Import “TtExpe202355.xlsx” and “TtExpe202354.xlsx”, the correct coordinates are: 14.73653164 -61.19059693.
The Bulk Import “TtExpe202312.xlsx”, “TtExpe202313.xlsx”, “TtExpe202314.xlsx”, “TtExpe202315.xlsx”, the correct coordinates are :12.59109726 -61.5196482.
The Bulk Import “TtExpe202317.xlsx”, the correct coordinates are: 12.62404285 -61.40791247.
The Bulk Import “TtExpe20233.xlsx”, the correct coordinates are: 17.03657314 -62.60027685.
The Bulk Import “TtExpe202341.xlsx”, the correct coordinates are: 12.62034469 -61.50417515.
The Bulk Import “TtExpe202342.xlsx”, the correct coordinates are: 12.98015325 -61.3017347 .
The Bulk Import “TtExpe202343.xlsx”, the correct coordinates are: 13.54598248 -61.09327833 .
The Bulk Import “TtExpe202362.xlsx”, the correct coordinates are: 16.81850965 -62.22285219.
The Bulk Import “TtExpe202322.xlsx”, the correct coordinates are: 16.03087319 -61.28838364.
Finally, the Bulk Import “TtCCSWW20240731.xlsx”, the correct coordinates are: 14.56886333 61.11537833.

That’s a lot so I totally understand if it takes a while to change, if so could you just let me know that you can do it yourself? If not, I’ll start making the changes myself right away.

Thanks a lot in advance and happy holidays to you!

Hi @rebeca

Just to clarify, these coordinates would apply to every encounter in the import, correct? I want to make sure we’re on the same page before we start working on it. This actually wouldn’t bee too difficult for us to correct.

This sounds like an issue with the way Excel formatted the row of cells for your coordinates. We typically see this happen with the occurrence ID field.

Here’s a link I’ve found helpful for past troubleshooting:

Even though this page says the steps will fix dates, it works for what you’ve described, too. We’re working on getting bulk import to be better at validating fields, but in the meantime, make sure to check the import preview page because the reformatted coordinates would display there before you commit the import.

Hello Anastasia, thank you so much for your answer I am glad that it’s not too difficult for you do to it. And yes, for every encounter in the import it would be great !

Thank you for the support page, it will help me to understand!

Thank you a lot and happy new year!
