Bulk Import Date Error

If this is a bulk import report, send the spreadsheet to services@wildme.org with the email subject line matching your bug report

In which Wildbook did the issue occur? Flukebook

What operating system were you using? (eg. MacOS 10.15.3) Windows 11

What web browser were you using? (eg. Chrome 79) Chrome 140.0.7339.208

What is your role on the site? (admin, researcher, etc) Researcher

What happened? When I try to upload the WildbookStandardFormat.xlsx sheet, I get an error that says “Invalid data: you can only use one of the following synonymous fields: Sighting.dateInMilliseconds, Sighting.millis, Encounter.dateInMilliseconds, Encounter.year, Sighting.year. Please delete all but one of these fields before proceeding.” I’m using the standard format of Encounter.year, Encounter.month, Encounter.day, Encounter.hour, Encounter.minutes (which is how I’ve done it previously without any issues).

I also tried the sighting_import.xlsx form and was able to get to the next page, but then it said that I had to go back to fix an error that said “There are some issues with your submission: Duplicate field detected: Encounter.year.”

What did you expect to happen?

What are some steps we could take to reproduce the issue?

Hi @maustin

Thanks for sending your spreadsheet!

Encounter.dateInMilliseconds is where the issue is.

If you have metadata in Encounter.year/month/day/hour/minutes, then Encounter.dateInMilliseconds is duplicate information (since it represents the exact time and date in a single field). Because this field is empty in your spreadsheet, deleting it will correct the error.

In general, it’s good practice to delete any unused fields from your spreadsheet before uploading it to prevent errors.
