What happened?
I completed my upload and it appears that none of the encounters have been sent to detection - status bar copy below: Note that I did the import yesterday (8/21/25)
Data Import Status: complete
Computer Vision Status: detection requests sent (0/42 complete). Each detection job in the queue is currently averaging a turnaround time of 1 minutes.
Refreshing results in seconds.*
What did you expect to happen? I expected the encounters to be sent in for detection
The bulk import was submitted without the Encounter.genus and Encounter.specificEpithet columns populated populated. The machine learning queue depends on these fields to determine which models to run.
I would recommend deleting this bulk import and reimporting with these two columns populated.
@jason I see the taxonomy on these encounters. Could this be an example of missed detections due to partially submerged turtles being underrepresented in the training data?
Thanks for your patience! @jason was correct before; some of the encounters are missing the taxonomy and that’s why it’s not letting detection finish running. Rows 25-41 are the ones missing taxonomy, lat/long, and submitter ID.
I’m sorry I didn’t catch this sooner when I looked at your spreadsheet.
Edited to add: You’ll need to update your spreadsheet, delete the bulk import, and then upload your corrected spreadsheet.
