What happened? I was trying to delete a cloned encounter (Encounter ID: 076c4a43-73b7-4829-b9d8-bbd223de98e8) by scrolling to the bottom of the unassigned encounterʻs page and clicking on the red “Delete Encounter” button. I confirmed that I wanted to delete the encounter on a pop-up window and another pop-up window appeared. It was titled “Failed to delete the encounter” and below it said “There was an error while deleting the encounter. Please try again later or contact admin for help.”
What did you expect to happen? I expected the encounter to delete from my bulk import.
What are some steps we could take to reproduce the issue? Open an unassigned cloned encounter. Scroll to the bottom of that page and click on the red “Delete Encounter” button in the Danger Zone to permanently delete the cloned encounter. Click on the “Delete” button on the following pop-up window.
Weird! I’m not sure why it was being so difficult, but I was able to delete it for you.

Thank you for deleting that encounter for me! However, this has occurred to me for many other individuals. Here are some of their Encounter IDs:

There are a few more too that do not allow me to delete the cloned encounter. Please advise.

Aha! Someone forgot to give you the Researcher role. In Wildbook, roles are hierarchical. The Researcher role is what gives you the ability to manage your encounters, matches, exports, etc. You only had the Org Admin role which needs the Researcher role in order to work correctly. That means it would let you view your org members’ data, but lack the ability to manage any of it. Can you try deleting these encounters again?
If you need to assign multiple roles to a user, make sure to hold down the Ctrl (PC) or Cmd (Mac) button on your keyboard as you click so it doesn’t de-select the previous selection.
