Cannot get Manta Matcher to work

What Wildbook are you working in?
Manta Matcher
What is the entire URL out of the browser, exactly where the error occurred?

Can you describe what the issue is you’re experiencing?
The bounding box is not being automatically drawn and when I click on the 4 lines at the bottom right of the photo it always tell me ‘cannot start match’.
Perhaps it is my internet but I can do just everything else with the internet signal we have. The old method always worked, using it in the same location as I am in now. So I tried to do it the old way by clicking on ‘create optional feature region’ and then a new page opens where I can draw annotation and then I am not really sure which options to choose at the top. IA Class gives me 2 options : ‘Manta CR’ and ‘manta_ray_giant’ and lots of options for Viewpoint, I do not know which one to select.
I tried selecting Manta CR and up then saved Annotation. Back on the encounter page I click start match.
It give me a screen split between Matches based on MiewID Deep Learning Matcher and Matches based on PIE (Pose Invariant Embeddings) but only 1 possible match, not a list of matches.

Can you provide steps on how to reproduce what you’re experiencing?
I search encounters for Indonesia: Raja Ampat and then all unapproved encounters. I think click on the most recent encounter and then the encounter number. After that nothing works!

Hi @Scubadougal

This melanistic manta was likely missed entirely by the AI detector (I confirmed it ran but found nothing). It simply didn’t see one of these in the training data and therefore reported back with no bounding box.

The work around is to draw a manual bounding box via the ‘add annotation’ menu:

I would recommend drawing it like this:

with ‘manta_ray_giant’ (we are deprecating mantaCR) as the class and ‘down’ as the viewpoint.

For mantas, it is important that the top of the bounding box bet toward the front. The top has the rotation handle that sticks out.

Please let me know if this allows you to draw the bounding box and then ‘start match’ should appear as a menu option to sllow for matching to proceed.

Thank you,
Jason

Hi Jason

Thank you so much for the detailed reply. I immediately tried setting the bounding box using your instructions and it worked! And it was a match, first choice  Brilliant. Best regards, Debbie
