I can’t Add to existing individual ID

Are you running into issues assigning ID from the match page or from the encounter page?

Which ID are you trying to assign?

Thanks! It won’t let you assign it because the giraffe in your encounter is a Giraffa tippelskirchi thornicrofti and LG-0154M is a Giraffa tippelskirchi, which are considered two different species in Wildbook.

The taxonomy has to match in order for the ID to be assigned.

Not sure how did happened. All the encounters of 154M are thornicrofti, how can I change the taxonomy of the individual? I can’t seem to edit it. thanks.

It doesn’t look like I can edit the taxonomy from the individual page, either. I do see a merge in this individual’s history. There’s a possibility that when the merge occurred, the wrong taxonomy was reconciled despite the encounters having the correct one.

Thanks for hanging in there. It looks like there are multiple individuals that have the same issue (marked individual page taxonomy does match match the one on its encounters). We’re still working on a fix.

Thanks for your patience! The root cause is likely that when the taxonomy was set on the first encounter for this individual, it kept that assignment in the marked individual page even when it was later changed. We’ve run a script across your data to re-check the taxonomy based on the assigned encounters and it appears to work now as I was able to assign the identity on your first link to LG-0154M.
