In the Encounter Search results, what does the # of “daily duplicates” represent?

Daily duplicates indicate the number of those Encounters that represent the same individual on the same day. It is meant to provide some amount of understanding of unique data versus duplicated data. I suspect it is little used and dates back to some of the original mark-recapture work on whale sharks.
