What happened?
I uploaded Plain Zebra photos which am currently identifying. The issue is why don’t I get the correct match of several candidates and yet am sure there are in the software. Example, the one in the link above.
Why does it show private
What did you expect to happen?
I expected the above link, which is one of the candidates to match with 08_038 and it’s already in the system.
What are some steps we could take to reproduce the issue?
Great question! I looked at the data for 08_038 and compared it to your encounter link above. Your encounter was in location ID Ol Pejeta. I looked at the other encounters for 08_038 and five of them have no location ID and one location ID is for Ol Pejeta.East.
Even though Ol Pejeta and Ol Pejeta.East are sub-locations of Kenya, Wildbook treats them as unique locations. When it looks for match candidates, it’s only going to search for candidates that match exactly the location ID on the encounter unless you select multiple locations before you send to ID.
From the bulk import page, you’d do that by holding down the Ctrl key while clicking on multiple locations from the menu:
You can also manually send just this encounter to ID and select multiple locations by selecting “start another match” from the image menu:
There is also the “select data without location ID” checkbox that will also consider candidates that don’t have a location ID defined:
Thanks Anastasia,
I tried all those options before and have done it again now with no match.
I see that the match was re-run on March 1st with the three Ol Pejeta regions, but the Match data without location ID box wasn’t checked. I just started a new match with all of these boxes checked and I see 08_038 as the top match result: Wildbook
