Questions:

  1. If I understand correctly Match score ther is no specific number scale for Matching score in Hotspotter?

I looked at wild me dock and hotspotter paper and maybe I overlooked the answer.

2.I noticed that for the same image at individual scores and image scores do not have the same value. For example; although in both cases the same picture is in the first position it has a different match value. Her individual score is 11,409 and her image score is 12,538. Is that down to Hotspotter mode? You can see the situation itself in the attached links.

Hi Stjepan,

1. If I understand correctly Match score ther is no specific number scale for Matching score in Hotspotter?

That is correct. The more visual texture similarity, the higher the score. There is no upperbound for the score.

2.I noticed that for the same image at individual scores and image scores do not have the same value.

Correct. An image score is the HotSpotter score between a pair of images. If several potential matches are linked by the same individual animal ID, then the Individual Score is the sum of the Image Scores, allowing individuals to get boosted in the results if they match across several photos.

I hope this helps clarify HotSpotter.

Thanks,
Jason
