In which Wildbook did the issue occur? Internet of Turtles

What operating system were you using? (eg. MacOS 10.15.3) Dell Laptop, Windows 10

What web browser were you using? (eg. Chrome 79) Tried Chrome/ Microsoft Edge

What is your role on the site? (researcher, org admin, etc.) Org Admin

What happened? I have tried matching images for the past three days and no matches every population. Sometimes the site will glitch and refresh but it will just sit in the “matching” state until my login gets timed out.

What did you expect to happen? Match results to population

What are some steps we could take to reproduce the issue? Try running a match?

Hi @tsiegfried

We’re in the process of upgrading IoT this morning so once IoT is back up, it should start behaving again. I’ll check in again as soon as I get confirmation that it’s complete.

Thanks for your patience. The update is complete and matching and detections are working now. Feel free to restart matches on any encounters that weren’t completing.

Thank you for the update @Anastasia. I have noticed a few issues that hopefully can be resolved. When the annotations are auto-populated for the images, they are too large and therefore we are unable to delete and redraw them. See photo below.

The other more important issue is with the new matching algorithm (which is hopefully better) does not populate the number of match results I am requesting. I always request at least 150 options because with the old algorithm I was continually finding matches well into the 100 “matched” individual. Is there a way to address this? You can see in the match output below I asked for 150 match results but was only give 19.

thank you so much for all your help and the amazing work you guys are doing to make matching faster! I really appreciate it.

Thanks for the heads up! This is a known issue that will be resolved by the 11.0 update. I’ve added your example to the ticket.

Can you share the link to the match page so I can dig into this one more? I would expect this behavior for Hotspotter (which will never display matches with a score below 0), but not for MiewID.

I finally have an update on this. This newest version of MiewID does this intentionally. Like Hotspotter, it will only display match candidates with a match score above 0. In the past, MiewID would show however many candidates requested even if the match confidence was below 0. In this example, only 19 turtles had a match score above 0 so that’s the limit of what it will show you for this annotation.

One more update: we’ve fixed the issue with the hidden edit/delete annotation buttons. You should now see them on any annotations you previously were unable to edit.
