Multiple Images in one encounter is there an internal check that patterns match

What Wildbook are you working in? Grouper Spotter

What is the entire URL out of the browser, exactly where the error occurred? Not a problem just a question

Can you describe what the issue is you’re experiencing?

When multiple photos are added to a single encounter in Grouper Spotter, is there any backend check (AI or otherwise) that would flag if the images aren’t all of the same individual fish?

Can you provide steps on how to reproduce what you’re experiencing?

If this is a bulk import report, send the spreadsheet to services@wildme.org with the email subject line matching your bug report

Good question! Our detector will annotate each fish that appears in the photo. Because one encounter can only represent one animal, Wildbook will create a cloned encounter for each annotation in the photo. When an annotation in the picture that doesn’t belong to the fish in the encounter, you’ll see it appear as a dotted line instead of a solid one. When you select that annotation, the hover text tells you it will take you to another encounter’s page:

If you click on the Encounter History icon above the encounter image gallery (looks like a clock), it will tell you here that the encounter is cloned and also provide the encounter ID it originally came from:

The first ID is the current encounter you’re on and the one after the arrow is the encounter it was cloned from.

If the detector misses any fish, you’ll want to add a new manual annotation for it.

In order to match each fish pictured, you’ll need to review matches on each encounter of the annotations.

Thanks Anastasia that is helpful for the image with multiple fish. I was actually asking if someone (or a bulk import) were to import two or more images into an encounter but it turned out that one of the images was not of the same fish (mistake made in processing or import). Is there a way for the platform to flag this (whether through AI or manual check). Would it try to match the images within the same encounter to check if they are the same?
