You may have noticed our new multispecies AI model, MiewID, in your match results on Flukebook recently. MiewID has been trained on:
- bottlenose dolphins
- killer whales
- fin whales
- gray whales
- blue whales
- belugas
- and many more species!
MiewID has demonstrated better matching performance as well as faster matches compared to previous models. It’s also a little more robust to different lighting conditions, occlusion, and sea states due to the more diverse nature of the data it was trained on.
We hope this will eventually replace PIEv2 and Hotspotter. We welcome your feedback as we continue working to improve your Flukebook experience.
