Occurence IDs - IOT

What Wildbook are you working in? Internet of Turtles

What is the entire URL out of the browser, exactly where the error occurred? Not an error but this is an example Internet of Turtles

Can you describe what the issue is you’re experiencing?
It’s not really an issue but I have noticed that a few encounters do not have an occurrence ID.
If I understand correctly for each encounter submitted an occurrence ID is created and given to the encounter and any clone encounters assigned to it. I was therefore wondering if this is correct and what would be the reason some might not have an occurrence ID (Is it that the encounter submission did not fully go through?).

I also noticed there is an option to create one but I was wondering if there is a particular way they can be created and make sure they remain unique to the encounter (or if this is done automatically).

Can you provide steps on how to reproduce what you’re experiencing? Check out these links:

Hi @linaelsayed03

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Occurrence IDs should be automatically assigned if a user doesn’t provide one. I’m not sure what’s causing them to be missing, but I’ll need more time to look into it.

I’ll let you know if I need more examples or have any follow-up questions.

It looks like this is only affecting submissions (both public and signed in) through the new Report an encounter URL. Submissions through the Classic version of the page work correctly and automatically add an occurrence ID.

If we’re unable to fix quickly, I’ll write up a ticket for this and post the link here.
