Photos flip during matching process

What is the entire URL out of the browser, exactly where the error occurred? Multiple but here is an example

Can you describe what the issue is you’re experiencing? The photos appear right side up on the encounter page but when I go to match results, the photos flip, which results in the match being missed

Can you provide steps on how to reproduce what you’re experiencing?

Thanks for posting this to the forum! There does appear to be some funkiness here. We are tracking it with internal bug ticket WB-708 for reference.

Hey @Jill-ORP,
We have this photo flip resolved specifically, and we have determined cause. In general, there’s exif data on images that causes incorrect rotation if not addressed (particularly common on cell phones and certain outdoors cameras). We believe we have the system ready to catch these rotations in the future. For any photos that were uploaded before the change, feel free to reach out and we’ll get them addressed as they are reported.

Thanks for the response! It seemed to be particularly photos from one submitter. I checked these encounters and the photos, for the most part, don’t seem to be flipping anymore except for:

It seems like a few of the viewpoints on these photos were incorrectly assigned as well (left instead of right)
