PIE v2 - questionable lack of hyaena match results?

What Wildbook are you working in? ACW

What is the entire URL out of the browser, exactly where the error occurred?

Can you describe what the issue is you’re experiencing?
A user working with a first batch of hyaena camera trap images has reported the following:
It looks like PIE v2 is only suggesting matches to already identified individuals, and not to other photos from the same survey, whether looking at individual scores or image scores. Hotspotter seems to be behaving fine.
Bulk import: Wildbook for Carnivores | Login

The second image in the batch is a good example - for PIE v2, all the suggested matches are from other surveys, whereas hotspotter has correctly suggested photos of the same individual for matches 1-8 and 10-11.

Additional examples:

PIE v2 - all suggestions are hyaenas from other sites (Kenya or Ethiopia)
HotSpotter - suggested matches 1-4 and 7-8 are the same individual

PIE v2 - all suggestions are hyaenas from other sites (Kenya or Ethiopia)
HotSpotter - suggested matches 1-8 are the same individual

Toggling between image and individual scores doesn’t seem to make a difference.

Can you provide steps on how to reproduce what you’re experiencing?
Not sure that it’s relevant but this batch of images was recently re-run through identification using the new functionality implemented by @jason.

We are tracking this as SAGE-517. We have seen it with gray whales as well. We are currently in PIE development, and I am hoping we find the issue. A first pass look did confirm that PIE should be considering these unmatched annotations as individuals, so the issue must be something deeper. Thank you for more examples.
