Problem with Encounter.measurementX Columns Not Recognized in Flukebook

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some guidance on adding additional metadata variables in Wildbook.

I would like to include several new variables using the Encounter.measurementX fields. I’ve prepared a bulk import spreadsheet where I successfully used Encounter.measurement0 and Encounter.measurement1. However, these seem to automatically map to salinity and water temperature.

I am now trying to add the following new variables:

  • Precipitation → Encounter.measurement2

  • Cloud cover → Encounter.measurement3

  • Sightability → Encounter.measurement4

  • Wind speed → Encounter.measurement5

  • Wind direction → Encounter.measurement6

  • Spread → Encounter.measurement7

  • Heading → Encounter.measurement8

However, when I upload the bulk import spreadsheet to Flukebook, I receive the message:
“unknown column – may not be processed.”

Additionally, when I export the data back out as an Excel file, these new variables do not appear.

I’m unsure whether I am using the correct approach or if additional configuration is required to enable these fields.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi @Ana

We don’t have measurements for the variables you’ve mentioned (or the ones you requested here) because those are custom and would need to be manually configured in Wildbook. We met with Mags the other day to discuss this if you want to sync with her.
