Question re: matching across siloed datasets

What Wildbook are you working in? ACW

Hi there,

I have a question about matching across siloed datasets in ACW. The scenario I’m wondering about is as follows:

  • There are 2 users who are not collaborating across each other’s datasets
  • User A has an un-ID’d encounter
  • User B runs matching for an ID’d individual and finds a match to User A’s un-ID’d encounter

Question - can User B confirm the match and assign their ID to my encounter, even if they don’t have authorization to access my data?

I think the answer is no but I thought it best to confirm with you all.

thanks!

Acknowledging this question and digging into the code to answer it.

Thanks,

Hi @jason - I’ve just had an example of a similar scenario today.
User A does not have a collaboration with User B.
User A just uploaded a batch of un-identified encounters and one of the match candidates belongs to User B. The matching match candidate is also un-identified.
Can User A assign a new ID to both annotations even though she doesn’t have a access to User B’s data?

Here’s the example: Wildbook for Carnivores
Scroll to the 2nd target annotation on the page
Match candidate #3 is a match to the target and each annotation belongs to a different, non-collaborating user.

thanks!
