Reading results

Hello,

Wondering anyone knows how to read the results section on Internet of Turtles?

I’ve ran my data through filtered dates and location and it’s givien me data but I’m not sure exactly what the data means.

I have:

  • 912 Matching encounters (what does matching encounters mean?)
  • 703 identified and unique (are these how many turtles I have?)
  • 27 unidentified (do I have to go back and identify these?)
  • 182 daily duplicates (is this the same picture and its reading duplicates?)

Total encounters: 10,9497 (assumming this is how many photos the software cross reference my photos with?)

I uploaded 930 photos within my bulk uploads thus am trying to make sense of what the above means. Is there a manual or something I’m missing? Thanks ya’ll!

Hi @SeaturtleJess, welcome!

At the footer of every page in Wildbooks is a link to our help docs:

That depends on what page you saw this. Was it after you performed a search? If so, those are the encounters that match the search you just completed.

This is the number of turtles that have been identified and given an ID.

We’re not the data police; you don’t “have” to do anything. If you don’t need to assign IDs to the turtles you upload for your organization, then this is purely informational.

As above, I’d need to know which page you saw this on so I have more context.

Ditto above

Let me know if you still have questions after reviewing the link to the help docs.
