Same beluga individual twice -- one is under sperm whale project

What Wildbook are you working in?

What is the entire URL out of the browser, exactly where the error occurred?

Can you describe what the issue is you’re experiencing?

I was having trouble giving an encounter the ID 102 (it wouldn’t appear in the “add to existing individual ID” box, so I went to look at the ID under my Individuals and I found that it was listed twice. One of them had the following info. I don’t see a way to change it so that it can be combined with the other correct “102” individual.

102

BSWP-#### : BSWP-0021

Balearic Sperm Whale Project : No ID Yet

MML Cook Inlet Beluga : No ID Yet

Can you provide steps on how to reproduce what you’re experiencing?

Hi @jwaite

It looks like the two versions of 102 are listed as different species.

  • This one with 12 encounters is Physeter macrocephalus. It looks like only 5 of these encounters are actually of sperm whales.
  • And this one with 49 encounters is Delphinapterus leucas

I’m not sure how this managed to happen, but I can fix it for you. I’ll let you know when they’ve been corrected.

Great - thank you! I hope there aren’t others :grimacing:

I’ve fixed the encounters for 102. I do see other duplicates in the link that lists your individuals and I’ve cleaned up the first few I saw (86, 1085, 1313, 1315, 1319, 1341,1344, 1346) but there are several more.

You can use the guidance in our Merging FAQ. These should be more straightforward than the issue with 102 since the duplicate individual pages are all of Delphinapterus leucas.

Let me know if you need help with these.

Great - thanks so much. I did find that FAQ so will at some point spend some time fixing them.
