What happened?

Two colleagues who are researchers were matching whale sharks and both needed to add a new ID to each whale shark. However, they were both provided with the same new ID for each whale shark as they were matching the whale sharks at the same time.

This is the first time we have encountered this issue and are unaware if it has happened before.

What did you expect to happen?

That each whale shark would have been provided with a different new ID

What are some steps we could take to reproduce the issue?
Have two people add a new id to two different whale sharks at the same time.

Thank you for your help,
Julian

Hi @juliant

Thanks for letting us know. I’ll add this example to the existing ticket for this issue: Set new individual ID allows for duplicate IDs/marked individual pages to be made · Issue #1037 · WildMeOrg/Wildbook · GitHub

Feel free to unassign the ID from one of the whale sharks from the encounter page (Identity > Manage Identity > Remove from marked individual) and assign it a new ID.

Thanks Anastasia
