Uploading too many bulk imports at once?

What Wildbook are you working in? Flukebook

What is the entire URL out of the browser, exactly where the error occurred?

Can you describe what the issue is you’re experiencing?

I have 13 bulk imports that got stuck in detection or failed. I uploaded them back to back and I am wondering now if sending too many bulk imports at once can cause this. Sorry for so many links and thanks in advance!

Can you provide steps on how to reproduce what you’re experiencing?

If this is a bulk import report, send the spreadsheet to services@wildme.org with the email subject line matching your bug report

Yes, it’s most likely. One of the reasons we recommend limiting each import to 200 encounters each is not only to make sure individual bulk imports can display correctly, but also to reduce bottlenecks in the image analysis pipeline as one person submitting a lot of imports or one large import will slow down image analysis for all of the Wildbook’s users.

I need to manually force detection and identification for each import, so this will take a while.

This should be improved with Wildbook 10.10.0, but Flukebook hasn’t received the upgrade yet as we’re still rolling it out.

Got it, I will import smaller datasets next time and not submit so many back to back. I always appreciate your help and support!

No worries! I’ve marked the ones I’ve been able to resend to ID with a checkmark, and any that aren’t responding to forced detection with a magnifying glass so I can revisit those with the devs later. Anything I don’t finish getting to today I’ll pick up again on Monday.

Sounds great, thanks again!

Ok, I’ve resent everything to ID. I’ll need more time to get the ones that refuse to complete detection unstuck. The last two links with upload errors are also missing the delete import button so I’ll need the devs to help remove those so you can reupload.

Thank you very much! For the links with upload errors, when I open them I see the option to delete import task. Should I delete them myself and reupload?

Oh, perfect! Yes, if you can see it, then go ahead and delete those so you can reupload them.

Ok great! I will do that, and if those last two links with the magnifying glass wont push through detection then I can also delete them and reupload as a few smaller imports instead of two big ones.

We got one import unstuck from detection and into ID. The last one finished detection but refuses to go through ID. Thanks for hanging in there while we get the last one unstuck.

Ok, all your imports should be good to go! Thanks for your patience.

Thank you! I super appreciate all the work you do. I’ll be doing smaller bulk imports from now on
