What if IA class is incorrect?

What Wildbook are you working in? ACW

Question:
I know that if the keywords are incorrect, it doesn’t affect matching. However, what if the IA class is incorrect - does that affect matching?

Ex. If the IA class label says the wild dog is dark but the dog is actually standard, what, if any, is the effect on matching? does it match only against other annotations with the same IA class, i.e. other dark wild dogs?

Here’s a link where the dog’s right viewpoint should be standard but is marked as dark: https://africancarnivore.wildbook.org/encounters/encounter.jsp?number=35a6a52c-7649-4461-90d4-f4e2f4d5f9e8

thanks
Maureen

Hi Maureen,

If the coloration referenced in the IA class is incorrect it will not effect matching. Matching set is determined by location ID and species. Since all wild dogs have the same species designation, they are all considered. The only time an incorrect IA class would be a problem is when something matchable is switched with something unmatchable like a body for a tail.

Thanks!
