Changing the ownership of data that was submitted as bulk import by a user

What Wildbook are you working in?
Grouper Spotter

What is the entire URL out of the browser, exactly where the error occurred?

Can you describe what the issue is you’re experiencing?
A user has left our organization Bryant.Tran but did all of the bulk imports so far for our data.

Is it possible to transfer all of that data to a different user as the submitter?

If not is it possible to assign the managing research role to another user for all of that data at once or do you have to do it one encounter at a time

Can you provide steps on how to reproduce what you’re experiencing?

If this is a bulk import report, send the spreadsheet to services@wildme.org with the email subject line matching your bug report

Hi @accfish

No, we don’t recommend reassigning their data to another user for security purposes. As an admin, you’re still able to view and edit their Encounters as needed.

Going forward, it may be helpful to create an account with an email address that goes to a shared inbox for your org. This way your organization can maintain access to the account and because it technically has multiple owners, one person leaving won’t create issues with data continuity.

I see that you dont recommend reassigning but is it possible?
We will use a shared email address moving forward but we want to reassign the initial data if at all possible.

Yes, it’s possible. We don’t recommend it in general because of issues that can arise over data ownership. You will have more context for this situation than I do for whether it makes sense to reassign vs leave alone (for example, if an intern’s role was to upload data that belongs to someone else vs a researcher who uploaded their own photographs).
