Dear @Anastasia,

second bug report today:

I also encountered a second oddity, which I think might be a bug.

At the moment the matching results always show me a self comparison with the same individual as the top result. (see attached photo). This makes no sense actually, right? Comparing the individual to itself? Well, it’s a recapture … technically.

It’s not a big deal as I can just ignore this result. But I wanted to ask whether this is a bug, or maybe part of how the new MewID Algorithm works?

If you want to have a look at the problem yourself, you can e.g. check the matching results of BGBI_25-0005 (or any other individual in the Botanical Garden Bielefeld Adults 2025 project).

Thanks for your help!

All the best

Sean

Hi @Sean.Grond

I suspect the two issues may be related. I need to spend more time researching and I’ll let you know when I have an update.

Hi @Sean.Grond

The match candidates with the same image as the source encounter are a result of the same encounters being uploaded by different users as discussed in your other post.

Feel free to ignore the duplicate matches. You won’t see this in matches that are run after the duplicate imports are deleted.
